American Driving Society Rule Changes Effective march 1, 2008 CHAPTER 5 SAFETY ARTICLE 5 RESPONSIBILITIES OF DRIVERS AND OFFICIALS 8. The ADS strongly recommends that no turnout should rely solely on a groom or other attendant standing on the ground to control the horse or horses, with the exception of hitching and/or unhitching. If a driver dismounts for any reason other than to make minor adjustments to harness, carriage, or to unhitch, the reins should be given to a driver seated on the vehicle.
There is a change for the penalties in the Pick Your Route Class. There isn't any penalty for walking in this class. Therefore the penalty that says Break In Gait; 1st Break from Trot - 5 Seconds.......... and so on. This should be changed to Break to Canter; 1st Break To Canter - 5 Seconds.......... and so on. This class used to penalize break to walk but the new rule change is only a break to canter. |
